Ty began coaching at the age of 16, spending his summers at the Little League World Headquarters in Williamsport, PA. In high school and college, Ty was nationally ranked downhill skier and was the team captain at a Penn State University. He went on to coach skiers and train athletes in weightlifting, agility, mobility, stamina and endurance. Ty was introduced to CrossFit as an off-season training opportunity for his triathlon, bicycle, and obstacle course racing. He was immediately drawn to the camaraderie, variety, and intensity of the workouts which improved his finish results the following season from a top 10% athlete to a top 1% athlete. “I was amazed how my weaknesses were holding me back from improving my strengths.” As a coach, Ty strives for his athletes to become healthier and fitter by providing a enjoyable, safe and effective training environment with Gamma’s unique programming. Ty’s goal is “to take any person, of any ability, and increase their quality of life through comprehensive, supportive and fun programming and coaching”. Ty believes that it “doesn’t matter what your goals are, there is a place for everyone”.
Ty enjoys spending time with Meredith and their three daughters. Outside of his busy schedule, he enjoys brewing and tasting beer (but mostly just drinking it). In the past, he played baseball, football and attended the world renowned Burke Mountain Ski academy in Vermont. In 2014, Ty was ranked in the top 1% worldwide in the Reebok Spartan Race World Championships in Killington, VT. Ty is a twice crowned Lurong Living National Champion, Lurong Living sponsored athlete, and 2017 CrossFit Games masters qualifier athlete.
